CBD drinks are beverages infused with cannabidiol, the non-psychoactive compound found in hemp. Just like a tincture, CBD water benefits include relaxation, stress relief, and better sleep, but with the added convenience and sociability of a tasty drink.

CBD-infused beverages come in a variety of flavors and formats, from sparkling waters to teas and even energy drinks, offering a convenient way to incorporate CBD into your daily routine. They’re designed to provide a moment of calm and relaxation, seamlessly fitting into your lifestyle without the hassle of measuring doses or dealing with tinctures.

What Are the Effects of CBD Drinks?

Just like your mom might take CBD tinctures before bed to help her sleep, CBD beverages are used by people to relax and decompress naturally. But do CBD drinks do anything? Just like THC products, it doesn’t really matter what consumption method you choose, the effects are the same. The only difference is how quickly they kick in.

CBD is often associated with various benefits like relaxation, stress relief, sleep-aiding, and its anti-inflammatory properties.

A 2023 study1 of 374 participants looked into perceived changes in stress levels when taking isolate (only CBD) and broad-spectrum (CBD plus other cannabinoids found in hemp) CBD oils over a 30 and 60-day period. Across the range of participants, both the isolate and broad-spectrum products successfully reduced their perceived stress levels.

A similar 2019 study2 of 72 participants also found that CBD increased sleep scores of almost 67% of participants.

Do CBD Drinks Get You High?

Nope! CBD or cannabidiol is the non-psychoactive compound in cannabis. That means it doesn’t get you high. Most CBD drinks (and now most THC drinks too, thanks to the Farm Bill) are made with hemp which contains a naturally high amount of CBD and less than 0.3% THC by dry weight.

CBD is extracted from hemp using fragrance extraction3 – including CO2 extraction, ethanol extraction, or lipid extraction. This isolates the CBD while removing other unwanted compounds.

Full-spectrum CBD extracts all of the cannabinoids from hemp including a tiny amount of THC. This method exposes consumers to the full range of cannabinoids for optimal benefits. It normally retains the natural dosage levels for each, which helps them to be better absorbed in the body – think of it like nature’s perfect recipe.

So, do CBD drinks relax you? Effectively, yes it does! There are several studies4 that suggest CBD can help people with stress and anxiety-related disorders. Some may also feel a slight buzz from consuming a full-spectrum CBD drink but it’s not the same as being high. As long as you purchase from a company that conducts third-party lab testing for content and purity, you will pass a drug test as the quantity of THC is below the detectable amount5.

The alternative is CBD isolate which is “pure CBD” without the other naturally occurring compounds in hemp. CBD isolate may not be as effective for treating pain compared with full-spectrum CBD, as this 2018 study6 suggests.

In most U.S. states, yes, CBD drinks are legal! Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp-derived CBD products, including drinks, are widely available across the United States as long as they contain less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. This is what keeps them within the bounds of federal law.

Hemp-derived THC drinks, like those from DELTA, also contain less than 0.3%THC by dry weight and are federally legal. The thing to note is that the legal status of Delta-9 THC is a bit more complicated because of the higher dosage of THC, so you will need to check local state laws to see if they are permitted. Also, note that drinking a Delta-9 THC drink will cause you to fail a drug test.

Get the Full Plant Benefits

At DELTA, we get the appeal of CBD infused beverages but think they are a bit boring. That doesn’t mean we’re hating on CBD – oh no! We strongly believe in its health benefits and it is why our Delta-9 THC hemp drinks contain a perfectly balanced amount of the stuff.

Our question is, why not elevate the moment instead? You get all the same health benefits plus the additional wellness benefits of THC. And it gives you a buzz to get those creative juices flowing, motivate your next workout, or wind down after a big day – depending on which drink recipe you choose.

Like CBD infused drinks they are also a great way to reduce alcohol consumption or quit altogether. And with THC seltzers you’ll still get a similar buzz to alcohol but without a hangover – plus they are generally much better for your health.

If you’re into hemp infused drinks already or are intrigued at how they might help, we’d say you’re canna-curious. Our DELTA Light range of drinks contains a low 5mg THC dosage along with 1mg of CBD so it’s ideal for someone starting out or if you want to enjoy a few drinks socially.

If you’ve been toking a while and want to move away from smoking, you’re the canna-connoisseur. Take a look at our full-strength DELTA Cannabis Water. They have a more potent 20mg hit of THC and a higher dose of CBD – 2-10mg depending on the flavor.
